Iapetus [eye-app-i-tus] means Balance. It is the name of one of the moons of Saturn. It is so named because the coloring pattern between the dark side of the moon and the light side of the moon is similar to the “Yin-Yang” symbol. Hence, astronomers named this particular moon Iapetus due to the balance between perpetual light and shade on its surface.

We seek a balance between long-term and short-term opportunities; a balance of large companies and small companies; and a balance of companies in various stages of the corporate lifecycle (some may be considered ‘value’ stocks and some ‘growth’ stocks). Adhering to this philosophy will result in an investment portfolio that is concentrated in a select few best ideas, while also being elegantly diversified across multiple opportunities.

It is not just enough to build a company anymore. That company must make some positive impact on the world. Affect change. Whether it is called Conscience Capitalism or Entrepreneurial Capitalism, it is a new philosophy on business leadership: capitalism with a greater, moral purpose.
